Blogger diarrhoea

I'm suffering from blogger diarrhoea, posting as many entries as I could to make up for last year infrequent posting. A friend also commented over my poor posting...was distracted by facebook hahaha. Will try to live up to my blog's name - occasional blogger. Hopefully this post won't be the last one for 2010 =p

2nd Langkawi trip

My 2nd trip to Langkawi for HPC away day, 1st trip was 8 years ago with my ex-co.

Stayed at Westin Hotel, loved the breakfast spread. Too bad we didn't have much time to enjoy the hotel facilities or explore the island.

At Laman Padi.

At the cable car 1st viewing station, 652.5m above sea level.
Langkawi hasn't changed much from my previous visit except for the cable car, it wasnt ready the last time.

Ah Wong Bak Kut Teh

The picture said it all - Y U M M Y and "Ah Wong BKT" is by invitation only, lucky me =)

Happy CNY

My favourite piece of CNY deco in office.

View from afar ... nice.
Wishing everyone "lin lin yau yue".

Bittersweet 2009

2009 is bittersweet for me, sweet in the beginning, bitter in the middle and sweet again towards the end. Bitter was dominant, life was meaningless, life was purely routine & even shoppings didn't help - to a shopaholic like me, shopping without buying is torturing. The sweet came in Nov when I went for my 1st wisdom tooth extraction. It was painful, removed 2 as the doc refused to remove all 4, citing I still need to eat =) The long MC was a good break for me, somehow God spoke & made me realised that if I'd the gut to endure the pain from wisdom tooth extraction why should I stop there? I'd choices - to either lead a meaningless or meaningfull life. Sure it wouldn't be easy to undo all the damage I did earlier but it was necessary to undo them, just like my wisdom tooth extraction. And I'm thankful to my heavenly Father for watching over me during these rebellious period, He didn't give up on me. All glories to Him who is ever loving & merciful. My prayer is that I'll continue to choose HIM above anything & everything.

Faith of Noah or Job?

I wanted to blog the message below (by Dr Geoff Gorsuch) awhile back but didnt have time till now =)
Faith is risk & involves 3-P, personal, promise & preparation. It deals with the future & invisible.
Noah's faith
His faith was based on a personal promise that required preparation. God told Noah what to do, gave him all the facts & he obeyed.
Job's faith
His faith was based on God's character. God was silent. Job received no facts or tasks or preparation or personal promise. He trusted God.
What's my faith? Job or Noah? It depends on the season in my life. About 3 months ago, it was Job's faith - the struggles I had with work, family & personal issues was one of the darkest periods in my life. The 3-in-1 (3 struggles at 1 time) was too much for me. The breakthrough came after I fully surrendered to God (after exhausting all my strenghts & efforts) . . . at work, situations turned around - work issues were resolved & relationship with colleagues began to improve. At home, I've His peace & assurance to bring my family through this trying period. All in all, God was & is good =)

Fabulous 4

Do I need to say more? =)
It was great to have my siblings back for Christmas. Our house was on high - high amount of laughter, high level of patience (to use toilet) etc & high level of tolerance for bro's surprise acts!

Xmas party @ the Lees

Our host for this year Xmas party, thanks to Lan who initiate, organise & cook! We still managed to party even though our usual host cum cook, Bee, is away.

CMI workshop in Bangkok

Christmas decorations were already up in some malls in Bangkok in Nov.

One of the high-end mall.

Caught up with Oat, ex-colleague from GfK Thai, who took me to Somtam for lunch. The food was yummy but a tad too spicy & sour for me! Somtam is a popular restaurant, we'd to queue up along with others for a table.

A quick bite after a long day of walking. The stall is near the massage centre I visited, nothing fancy but I was too hungry to look around. Loved the quick service, the kangkung but not the char siew.

CMI colleagues from other countries.

This was my 2nd visit to Bangkok, first trip was some years ago with my ex-company. I realised that I didnt really enjoy Thai massage, found it to be painful after each visit. The only time I like Thai massage was my 1st encounter. Could it be the masseur(s) or me? Or possibly the company from my ex-colleagues made me forget the pain?
And I finally visited Chatuchak - the amount of stalls & people there were astonishing! Of course nothing beats Platinum Mall which is my favourite mall in Bangkok =)

A break at Tasik Kenyir

I saw the picture of this bus on the newspaper not long ago & couldnt believe my eyes when I saw it at KT. Of course I ride on it (free!) even though my friends & I weren't sure where it was heading. We ended up at Islamic Civilisation Park which has mini replica of various mosques around the world, a convention hall & Crystal mosque(picture below).

A view from the resort lobby.

The view outside my room.

Took a tour around the lake which brought us to a herbal farm (tongkat ali, kacip fatimah & other plants are found), waterfall & of course the famous spot of Tasik Kenyir - a bunch of dead trees (pic below).

The place is so quiet & secluded that me & my friends were the only guests left on our last day. I've never eaten & slept so much in my life till I came here =) Not forgetting my quest for nasi dagang which failed to materialise but led me to nasi kerabu instead. Needless to say the nasi kerabu was simply delicious!

Rediscovering Penang

I went to Penang over the long weekend. I had only one agenda in mind prior to trip - to have my share of assam laksa, rojak (fruits) & ice kacang. But I got more - tasted some authentic Penang food & discovered the scenic side of Penang. It was a fulfilling trip - definitely for my stomach.

First discovery was Penang Taman Negara. Our destination was to Pantai Kerachut & we got there through the hard way ie hiked (Caution: If one is unfit, the hike can be strenous). Alternatively, we can reach by boat.

Meromictic lake - contain layers of water that do not mix.

Opposite the Meromictic Lake is the sea, separated by the beach.

Sunset at Pantai Kerachut.

Next day we headed to Botanical Garden. We swapped plan from hiking to photographing thanks to merciful friends who saw I was unfit to hike anymore (after the 1st day hike). Thereafter we went on food hunting expedition =)

I like this B I G tree, quite rare in KL.

Needless to say the food hunt was very satisfying. This is taken at Balik Pulau, now I understand why people are crazy over the durians there.

Nasi kandar on Campbell St - our new discovery which left us satisfied.

Crunchy 'yau char kwai' - this shop sells only yau char kwai.

One of the streets we roamed.
